Not sure which
transmission?
MONSTER TRANSMISSION FINDER
Step 1 of 7
What make is your vehicle?
We’ll start by narrowing you into the correct GM, Ford, or Dodge/Ram transmission family.
What best describes your vehicle?
This keeps us from, for example, putting a 68RFE on a Ram 1500 that actually runs an 8-speed.
What year is your vehicle?
We’ll map your year into the correct transmission era.
What engine are you running?
Options shown are filtered by your make + vehicle type + year.
Don’t see your exact engine? Pick “I’m not sure / engine swap.”
What drivetrain?
We’ll prioritize 2WD vs 4x4 coverage.
How do you use the vehicle?
Use case + HP tier determine your recommended build.
About how much horsepower?
Rough guess is fine — higher HP can override use-case.

Based on your answers, here’s the build level and family you should be shopping.

Why Dodge / Ram Owners Choose Monster

  • Build tiers designed around Mopar families—46RE/47RE/48RE, 545RFE, 62TE, 42RLE, 66RFE/68RFE, AS69RC—so the package matches your use case and power goals.
  • Known pain points addressed—68RFE clutch capacity & valve body wear, 48RE band apply/line pressure—using upgraded hard parts and proven fixes.
  • Every unit is dyno tested for pressure, timing, and temperature control before it ships.
  • Real support and real coverage—up to 6 years / unlimited miles—plus clear install docs and a straightforward core process.

Which tier fits my Dodge/Ram?

Stock/commuter → RoadReady. Daily/towing with mild tune → StreetMonster. Street/track or bigger tires/gearing that add load → SportMonster. Competition or 700+ HP → TrackMonster.

Is a torque converter included?

Yes. A matched converter is included because stall and lockup strategy are critical for tow rigs and tuned Hemi/Cummins builds.

Programming & electronics—anything special?

Perform a full reprogram/relearn after install. RFE/AS69RC applications benefit from updated strategies and an adaptive drive cycle. Verify connectors/sensors by model year.

What should I do during install?

Flush/replace the cooler & lines, use the specified fluid (ATF+4 on many Mopar units), confirm driveshaft/output compatibility, and complete the adaptive learn to protect the build and warranty.

How does the warranty work?

Coverage varies by tier with options up to 6 years / unlimited miles. See product pages for exact terms and requirements.

*HP ratings are guidance only; vehicle weight, tires, gearing, and tuning affect capacity. When in doubt, step up a tier.

Dodge / Ram Transmission Guide: match your unit to your workload

Dodge/Ram platforms cover a wide spread—from classic RE units to modern RFE and Aisin. Use this section to pick the right family, choose the right tier, and install it right.

1) Start with the transmission family

The “right” transmission depends on engine + chassis + year. These are the common buckets you’ll see.

  • 46RE / 47RE / 48RE: classic tow/HD setups
  • 545RFE / 66RFE / 68RFE: modern RFE family
  • AS69RC: heavy-duty Aisin applications

2) Choose your tier by real load

Weight + towing + tuning stacks load fast. When you upgrade tires/gearing, your tier often needs to step up too.

  • RoadReady: stock daily and light duty
  • StreetMonster: towing confidence + mild tuning
  • SportMonster: serious use / bigger power goals
  • TrackMonster: max effort builds

3) Protect the build on install

Most repeat failures are contamination, cooling, or relearn—not “bad parts.”

  • Cooler & lines: flush correctly or replace
  • Correct fluid: many Mopar units specify ATF+4
  • Relearn: adaptives help shift quality + clutch life
Quick “don’t skip this” checklist (Dodge/Ram)

Confirm converter fully seated, verify cooler flow, use the correct fluid, and complete your relearn/adaptive drive cycle. These steps help keep temps down and protect the new transmission long-term.

Is 68RFE a good transmission?

It can be—when it’s built for your use-case. Load from towing, larger tires, and tuning can push stock capacity quickly, which is why tier selection matters.

Do I really need a relearn?

Yes. The relearn/adaptive drive cycle helps the unit apply clutches correctly and can prevent harsh shifts and heat after install.

Should I replace the cooler after a failure?

If the previous unit failed, contamination can damage the replacement fast. At minimum do a proper flush and verify flow; when in doubt, replace the cooler.

What if I’m between tiers?

Go up a tier. Towing and gearing changes are “hidden horsepower” that add load even on otherwise stock trucks.
