purchased new, never liked the shifting, 95k miles, overheated on the highway had to get towed home. added thermal bypass, had fluid flushed at dealer. truck was shifting hard and sloppy with lots of torque converter shudder on the way home. did not drive it afterwards. took a chance it was just the torque converter and purchased stock 1600rpm, went for a drive today and it was so smooth and shifted so well, temps are in the 160's. thank you Monster for the advice on the phone and having the parts I needed available and on sale. I am very happy all around.

Ordered and received the transmission within a week. Installation by my shop went smoothly, but had to work out the tune after a couple of days of driving. All good now. Scheduling the core return was also easy. Great price and included the fluid.

Transmission arrived on a pallet with no damage. Packed to perfection. I only had one issue with this project, the transmission pan wasn't for a 1995, it had a weird tab that got in the way of my shifter linkage....so I cut the tab off and filed it out smooth. I am very pleased with the performance of the transmission. I'll never use anyone else again. This was my second one from them.

The old one out was easy-ish enough. Fair bit more colorful language with the new going back in. That is more of a Ford & I issue than the trans itself. Don't forget to get a new cooler if you want your warranty to be valid! Erased the old learned pattern from the ECU. 1 trip with adaptive 20 mile shake down and put that to bed. Running in with the adaptive learning turned off produced tight, smooth shifts. No jumping gears no unloading the turbos produced an excellent positive feeling ride. Will be loading the toy hauler and heading out to escape the relatives for Turkey day. If an update is required after dragging 8,780 lbs over the pass, I will do so.

I've gone through 2 "Built Transmissions" in 1.5 yrs from a local shop. First one lost all gears except 1st, second one lost 3-4 and I wasn't nearly as hard on it as the first. So, purchased from Monster and so far (still in the 500 mile breakin) it's GREAT! I can feel the internals while driving unlike a stock unit. Ya'll know what I mean. I don't think I'll be buying from local shops anymore!!
