Got this transmission back in February and since put about 6k miles with some some light towing over mountains and it seems great so far it is a little louder than stock when shifting at low rpm it kinda chatters but other than that it’s been great

Street Monster Ford 10r80

From a bad situation to a good one. I lost the transmission in my 2018 F150. Just replaced the motor then the trans went. I gave JC a call Monster Performance had a nice phone call which lead me to a better trans that will last me longer with an upgraded cdf drum which ended up being my issue in the first place. Placed an order and should be here in a week. Can’t wait to have my baby back. Lots of life left in my truck. Thank you for all you do at Monster.

Got the transmission and got everything installed and went to have the trans reprogrammed and was told I was missing codes. Contacted monster and was able to get some information and get my transmission programmed and back on the road

What transmission fluid should I use with the StreetMonster 10R80?

The StreetMonster 10R80 requires Ford MERCON® ULV transmission fluid.

  • Because the StreetMonster version uses the deep pan setup, it uses approximately 16 quarts of MERCON ULV full synthetic fluid.
  • We recommend only using MERCON ULV to prevent shift quality issues or internal damage.
  • Always follow the correct Ford fluid level check procedure after installation.

Note: Do not mix MERCON ULV with other ATF types.

Does the StreetMonster 10R80 fix the factory 10R80 issues?

Yes — the StreetMonster 10R80 is the upgraded build and is designed to correct several known OEM failure points.

  • Heavy-Duty Torque Converter: Built with new friction material to help improve converter durability and power transfer.
  • Deep Sump Aluminum Pan: Adds fluid capacity and supports better heat control compared to the RoadReady build.
  • Modified Valve Body: Helps improve line pressure and clutch holding capability.
  • Revised CDF Drum: Helps address one of the most common 10R80 failure areas with an upgraded retaining design.

These upgrades help improve durability, shift consistency, and holding power for trucks that tow, haul, daily drive, or run added power.

Should I choose the RoadReady or StreetMonster 10R80?

Choose RoadReady if your vehicle is mostly stock and you need a dependable OEM-style replacement for daily driving.

Choose StreetMonster if you tow, haul, run added power, use larger tires, or want an upgraded transmission with stronger holding power and improved durability.

Is the StreetMonster 10R80 good for towing?

Yes — the StreetMonster 10R80 is the better choice for towing compared to the RoadReady version.

  • Upgraded holding power helps support towing and loaded driving.
  • The modified valve body helps improve pressure control.
  • The deep pan setup adds fluid capacity for the upgraded build.

For best results, make sure the cooling system is clean and in good condition, and follow all programming and relearn procedures after installation.

Do I need to Tune or Flash the Transmission?

Yes — proper flashing and TCM relearn is required after installation of any 10R80 transmission.

  • You must use a Ford scan tool or equivalent to input the correct solenoid strategy code.
  • Follow the relearn procedure to calibrate shift timing and pressure control.

⚠️ This step is essential. Skipping it can lead to poor shifting, fault codes, harsh engagement, or internal damage.

Does this Transmission include Fluid?

No, fluid must be purchased separately. We offer special discounted prices and even cheaper shipping options when you bundle with our fluid at checkout.

How do I Return my Old Transmission Core?

Returning your core is simple. Once you are ready to return your core, you can initiate the return process in one of two ways:

  • Fill out our Core Return Form (available online) using the button below.
  • Or call our Customer Service Team at 800-708-0087 to schedule your return freight pickup.

Please Note:

  • The customer is responsible for the return shipping cost.
  • A flat-rate fee of $364 will be deducted from your core refund to cover return freight and handling. If Round Trip Shipping is not Prepaid Upfront.
  • The core must be the same model and not cracked or damaged beyond rebuild.
